Air Canada records 14pc jump in traffic growth from Dubai

Flag carrier Air Canada expects a further increase in air traffic from Dubai, UAE, this year, having recorded a 14 per cent increase in traffic between the two countries in the first five months of this year, said a report.

The Canada-Dubai service was launched in November 2015 and currently operates three flights a week between Dubai and Toronto, Gulf News reported.

"We are seeing a good number of people travelling from the UAE since we launched the service in November 2015," the report cited Deepu Cyriac, Air Canada’s country manager in the UAE, as saying.

Overall, Air Cananda carried 45 million passengers in 2016.

On July 1, Air Canada will be launching two new routes from Toronto to Mumbai, which will be a year-round service with five flights a week; and seasonal flights between Montreal to Algiers.
