Wego reveals Ramadan destinations to suit every travelling style

The holy month of Ramadan is the busiest travel time of the year for, the largest travel marketplace in the Middle East, with travel preparations now well underway for Eid holiday travel.

To help its audience find the best getaways, Wego has identified emerging Ramadan destinations for families, couples and singles.

"We examined new and trending destinations to suit every type of travel group - large, small and even solo,” said Mamoun Hmedan, managing director of Wego Middle East, North Africa and India.
Families - big and small
“Families more frequently select destinations that have a large scope of activities that will appeal to all ages. Many European cities - Munich, Paris, London - all fit the bill, with short flight times an added bonus.”
“The Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur is a regular family favourite with shopping and halal dining options galore, along with nearby tropical island resorts such as Langkawi, and the integrated family resorts in the Genting Highlands all within easy reach,” Hmedan continued.
Families - where to go?
“Turkey has a great diversity which is perfect for families,” said Hmedan. “Try Trabzon on the stunning Black Sea coast in the northeast of Turkey. A number of hotels are extremely kid friendly with large suites and fun activities. A stopover in Istanbul, also popular with families, is a must.”
“Antalya mixes culture and history with exotic resorts that line sublime, deep blue waters. Serving as a gateway to the southern Mediterranean, it’s referred to as Turkey’s Turquoise Coast and a great family option.”
Couples - romance and relaxation
“Dubai is a great city for couples with fabulous accommodation, vibrant dining and entertainment options, and many Ramadan deals on offer,” Hmedan observed.
For something different, Hmedan recommends Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, referred to by Lonely Planet as ‘the architectural love child of Paris and Dubai’.
“Baku’s history and beautiful Caspian Sea coastline combines to create an incredibly romantic destination great for couples,” Hmedan added.
The Seychelle Islands are an idyllic tropical getaway, where couples can find romantic bliss amongst sparkling seas, private, palm tree lined beaches, and luxurious beachfront hotels.
“The Seychelles are dramatically romantic and perfect for an unforgettable trip with the person closest to you,” said Hmedan.
The Egyptian resort town of Sharm el Sheikh is another great option, with easy flight connections and a variety of resort style hotels.
“Swimming along sandy beaches, relaxing in the sunshine or diving in the surrounding Ras Muhammad National Park - Sharm el Sheikh is popular with couples,” said Hmedan. “The coastal town also has great shopping and very fine dining.”
Travelling solo
“For singles the options are endless,” said Hmedan. “Travelling alone has many advantages albeit some destinations suit solo travel more than others.”
For the adventurous soul, head to Kathmandu. There’s no need to be a mountain climber to enjoy the colourful sights and sounds of the Nepali capital and it’s easy to make new friends with warm, welcoming locals or fellow travellers.
“Muscat is perfect for a quick, quiet getaway if you’re motivated to spend some alone time by the sea, wandering the ancient city forts or inhaling the crisp mountain air in the dramatic Hajar Mountains,” Hmedan suggested.
“Many Asian cities are also great for single travellers - Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul and Singapore are easy to explore and offer a variety of accommodation types for singles to suit any budget,” Hmedan added.
One size fits all
“While matching destinations to suit individual types of travel can be obvious in some cases, there are some destinations that crossover to suit singles, couples and families,” Hmedan continued. “South Africa for example is incredibly diverse and would happily entertain and engage adults as well as kids, with nearby safari camps, stunning Cradle Mountain, watersports and world class dining.”
“Georgia, which emerged as a destination hotspot for Middle East travellers last year on Wego, offers romance for couples in the beautiful coastal town of Tbilisi, loads of things to do for families and is a great place to explore for singles. It fits all types of travelling styles,” he said in conclusion. - TradeArabia News Service

Over 70pc tourists keen on staying longer in Dubai

Dubai's popularity as an international tourist destination is fast growing as more than 70 per cent of foreign tourists said they were keen to stay longer in Dubai and explore more.

The desire to stay longer is over and above the one to two weeks' vacation they already booked in Dubai based on the latest Arabian Falcon Holidays survey participated by 1,212 respondents. which included only non-residents.

Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain were rated as their favourite attractions in the UAE, with Dubai’s shopping malls, Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, The Palm, and Dubai restaurants as the next favourites.

Al Mohannad Sharafuddin, founder of Arabian Falcon Holidays (AFH), the largest independent timeshare player in the Middle East, said: “The strong vision of Dubai's leadership has led the emirate to outpace global growth in tourism. Increased investments toward attracting tourists to Dubai, focus on ensuring happiness for all, alongwith 100 per cent customer satisfaction through initiatives such as the launch of Smart Happiness Index, make Dubai a highly attractive destination that offers an unmatchable experience to international tourists.”

“Speedy and comfortable procedures, starting right at the time you enter the airports, a friendly and efficient customer service in addition to a large number of unique destinations offering attractions for all age groups and interests, make Dubai the place of choice for families and businesses alike,” Sharafuddin added.

The growth in tourism has been particularly remarkable after His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE's Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, approved the Dubai Vision 2020 for the tourism sector. This lays a strategic roadmap with the goal of attracting 20 million tourists (doubling the number welcomed in 2012) and Dh300 billion (81.6 billion) in tourism revenues annually by 2020.

To achieve this, Dubai will focus on three key areas: positioning the emirate as a leading family, event and business destination.

The preferences of international tourists, as revealed by the AFH survey, showed that family destinations top the list of favourites.

Dubai Garden Glow, Jumeirah Beach, Jumeirah Mosque, Desert Safari, Burj Al Arab, Waterparks, Dubai Parks and Resorts and Global Village are also amongst the hot favourites for international tourists.

The AFH survey also brought out the emerging trend of preference for longer stays amongst tourists. Nearly 50 per cent of the tourists spent four to seven days in Dubai, while 23 per cent stayed up to two weeks and 8.5 per cent of international tourists stayed longer than two weeks in the emirate, according to the survey.

"With a clear vision and a strategic roadmap that focuses on various aspects to attract tourism, Dubai is setting exemplary standards in tourism. Through its numerous achievements Dubai has brought many dreams to reality, and at this pace of growth, we eagerly wait to see its further accomplishments by 2020," Sharafuddin concluded. - TradeArabia News Service

Al Ghurair partners with Swiss glass door maker

UAE-based Al Ghurair Construction has tied up with Sky-Frame, a major Swiss producer of frameless glass sliding door and window systems, to become the exclusive supplier of its innovative seamless glass solutions in the Middle East.

A part of UAE-based diversified industrial conglomerate Al Ghurair, the company said Sky-Frame's unique glass products have netted the company several industry and corporate awards since its inception, thus enabling it to become the go-to name among design-oriented leaders in architecture.

True to its brand promise “A view, not a window”, the Swiss premium product featuring frameless and large-format glass panels makes possible the fusion of indoors and outdoors into a unique living space, according to Al Ghurair Construction.

Additionally, the firm sets new standards in technology as it strives to develop new innovative solutions in cooperation with universities and research institutes, it stated.

On the key partnership, Badr Abdulla Al Ghurair, the chief executive of Al Ghurair Construction, said: "We at Al Ghurair are always on the lookout for groundbreaking solutions that result in highly distinctive and aesthetic projects for our customers."

"The company has always been involved in building the UAE and our exclusive partnership with Sky-Frame is yet another step towards creating masterful residences and commercial properties that further develop the nation’s architectural landscape, remarked Al Ghurair.

Al Ghurair Construction, he stated, has completed its first UAE project, Muraba Residences on the Palm Jumeirah, which integrates Sky-Frame as a core element of its structural design.

"Featuring just 46 apartments and four penthouses, the development has become an architectural gem on one of the most prestigious addresses in the city of Dubai, boasting bright, naturally-lit living spaces that offer unparalleled views of the stunning islands," remarked Al Ghurair.

With more projects in the nation and across the Gulf region, Al Ghurair Construction looks to associate its name with groundbreaking architecture that incorporates Sky-Frame, he added.

Al Ghurair said in terms of the industry’s focus on green building, Sky-Frame’s glass products are also compatible with the intense weather conditions in the Gulf.

Its most popular technology comes in a slim 20-mm profile and offers thermal and sound insulation that protects residents from external heat – reducing cooling requirements of modern buildings while offering adequate protection from the elements, he noted.

The company chief said its alliance with Sky-Frame demonstrates Al Ghurair Construction's pioneering spirit.

"After having lent its expertise to thousands of major projects across the world, Sky-Frame is making an impression in the UAE with design, installation and service and Al Ghurair Construction is thrilled to be working jointly with them on these developments," he added.-TradeArabia News Service

“This award comes as an important step towards hosting the first Fifa World Cup in the region, as we have progressed with six stadiums in main contract stage, in addition to Khalifa International Stadium which was completed earlier this month, and Ras Abu Aboud Stadium which will be awarded in the upcoming months,” added Al Jamal.

Each training site will consist of two Fifa-compliant, floodlit, natural grass pitches; ancillary facilities and changing rooms; team parking areas and spectator areas for public training sessions. The awarded contracts will complete Qatar’s football training facility infrastructure to the level required for the tournament, with the total number of training sites still to be agreed by Fifa.

Crystal Lagoons inks $117m Egypt project deal

Crystal Lagoons, the multinational water innovation company and developer of crystal clear lagoons, has partnered with top real estate developer, Tatweer Misr, to bring idyllic beachfront living to the $117 million Fouka Bay development in Egypt.

Fouka Bay, the 12th project of Crystal Lagoons in the country, has been designed in collaboration with world-renowned Italian architects 5+1AA and enjoys a prime position along the pristine coastline of Ras El Hekma region.

The resort is a two-hour drive from capital Cairo and is easily accessible via the newly constructed Fouka Road.

It features a variety of luxurious and architecturally stunning residences with panoramic views of the coastline and 800-m-long stretch of white sandy beach. The project is expected to be completed by 2022, said a statement from Crystal Lagoons.

This is the second contract Crystal Lagoons has signed with Tatweer Misir, the first being a ground-breaking project in its flagship development Il Monte Galala in Sokhna, which will see the birth of the world's first mountain lagoon.

The move brings the ‘world’s top amenity’ to the heart of the Fouka Bay project effectively turning each house into a waterfront home, it stated.

In addition to enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the destination, the crystal-clear lagoon will add significant value to the development by offering a range of USPs, including ample space for non-motorised watersports, such as sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming, all in a safe environment.

The lagoons are developed using 30 times less water than a golf course, half the water required of a park of the same size, 100 per cent less chemicals than a traditional filtration system and 98 per cent less energy required by conventional water treatments systems., it stated.

The low construction and maintenance costs, teamed with unmatched sustainable credentials, offer a substantial return-on-investment for TatweerMisr, it added.

Carlos Salas, the Middle East regional director of Crystal Lagoons, said: "Our latest venture with TatweerMisr is further testament to the vital role Crystal Lagoons plays in the successful introduction of new and existing real estate and hospitality projects to the market."

"Our hi-tech, energy efficient lagoons are an increasingly popular amenity choice for forward thinking developers in Egypt seeking an affordable, long-term solution for sustainable development," he added.

Ahmad Shalaby, the managing director, TatweerMisr, pointed out that its partnership with Crystal Lagoons has allowed the company to provide added value that is based on innovation for its guests and residents.

"The development of those projects has resulted in a unique value proposition that has provided each of our residents the dream beach house be it on the Mountains in Sokhna or the North Coast resort of Fouka," noted Shalaby.

Crystal Lagoons currently has 600 projects at various stages of development worldwide. The company has experienced incredible growth in Egypt over the past two years – the country is currently its fifth largest market with projects worth over $5 billion.

“We are now present in three of the country’s main second home destinations – namely the north coast, Sharm El Sheikh and the Red Sea coast. Many of our 12 projects are currently in the design stage, although we will start to see some of the first ones coming online in the North Coast later this year,” said Salas.

“Our proposition is particularly appealing to our business partners in Egypt – especially considering we can use any kind of water including brackish from underground aquifers that has no other use, eliminating the need to consume valuable fresh water resources,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service

Jumeirah Golf Estates to remain host venue of DP World Tour Championship

Jumeirah Golf Estates, one of the Middle East's most prestigious residential golf communities, will remain the host venue of the European Tour’s season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, until 2020.

News of the extension coincides with DP World’s commitment as title sponsor to the tournament, also until 2020, with the top 60 European Tour players set to tee it up at Jumeriah Golf Estates for the ninth time this year from November 16-19.

The Earth course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, a member of the European Tour Properties network and branded as a European Tour Destination, has been the permanent home of the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai for the last eight years and is a fitting finale for the concluding Rolex Series event of the season with a prize purse of $8 million and the additional $5 million Race to Dubai bonus pool.

Last year over 62,000 spectators flocked to the world-class venue to watch the action unfold, while global household TV reach exceeded 503 million.
Past champions include Lee Westwood (2009), Robert Karlsson (2010), Alvaro Quiros (2011), Rory McIlroy (2012 & 2015), Henrik Stenson (2013 & 2014) and defending champion Matthew Fitzpatrick.

The venue encompasses two Greg Norman-designed Championship layouts in the Earth and Fire courses, a luxury residential golf community, a state-of-the-art clubhouse and the first European Tour Performance Institute in the Middle East which boasts world class training facilities for elite professional and amateur golfers alike.

Golf has been played in the UAE for more than 40 years and in Dubai, as recently highlighted in a report by Deloitte, it has grown into an industry worth $270 million a year.

The DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates with a prize fund of $8million has also been the exciting final stage of the European Tour’s$5million Race to Dubai since its inception in 2009.

From 2017, the Race to Dubai has received an added boost by being formally supported by Falcon Golf as a promotional partner of the Race to Dubai which includes 47 tournaments in 26 countries on the European Tour’s International Schedule with the overall objective of increasing awareness of the city as a world-leading, premium golf destination.

Tourism is a central pillar of Dubai’s economic growth and diversification efforts with the overall objective to increase visitor numbers to 20 million per year by 2020. Promoting Dubai as the preferred choice for international leisure and business travellers will ensure this strategy is a success.

Speaking to the media at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth - the inaugural Rolex Series event - Keith Pelley, chief executive of the European Tour, said: “The support of Jumeirah Golf Estates has been critical in the growth and development of the DP World Tour Championship over the past eight years and we are delighted they have reaffirmed their support until 2020.

As the premier golf and residential community in the UAE, it will also help continue to promote the game of golf in Dubai as a whole.”

Yousuf Kazim, CEO, Jumeirah Golf Estates, said: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with the European Tour until 2020. As the popularity of the DP World Tour Championship continues to grow each year, so too does Dubai’s reputation as the world class destination for golf tourism. Not only does hosting such a tournament underscore Dubai’s credentials as a global hub for international sport, it also provides a platform to tell Dubai’s story on a world stage and provides the perfect showcase to promote Golf at a grass roots level across the UAE.

Celebrating the global connectivity of the European Tour and Dubai, the Race to Dubai is a season-long competition to crown the European Tour’s Number One player, an honour which in 2016 went to Sweden’s Henrik Stenson for the second time, and which since 2009 has also been achieved three times by Rory McIlroy, as well as by Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and Luke Donald.

Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, DP World group chairman and CEO, said: “Golf’s international exposure and reputation as a global sport for all is one that fits with our direction as a business, enabling trade for nations across the world. Dubai has now become a leading destination for golf, with many world class courses, regularly attracting top players and contributing significantly to sport tourism in the UAE.  We are delighted to continue our commitment to the grand finale of the Race to Dubai, the DP World Tour Championship, and look forward to the ongoing development and enjoyment of the ‎sport across all generations."

Peter Dawson, chairman of Falcon Golf, the entity set up to optimise the benefits golf brings to the city that also manages Dubai’s sponsorship of the Race to Dubai, said: “Jumeirah Golf Estates, one of Dubai’s most prestigious golf and real estate communities, and DP World - through their support of the DP World Tour Championship - have made a significant contribution to making Dubai a world-leading premium golf destination and their continued commitment will be integral to the growth of the game and its increasing importance to the city.

Suqia, Dewa partner for water desal project

UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia) has partnered with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) to develop a reverse osmosis water desalination plant at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai, UAE.

The project, which reflects Suqia’s efforts in research and development to find sustainable and innovative solutions to the scarcity of clean water, relies on a hybrid energy system combining photovoltaic cells (100 kW) and power storage system (batteries) with a capacity of 520 kWh.

The cooperation aims to raise awareness on the importance of finding sustainable and effective solutions to serve the drought-stricken areas and to highlight the role of renewable energy in achieving sustainable development, said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, chairman of UAE Water Aid Foundation and MD & CEO of Dewa.

“This is part of Suqia’s commitment towards strengthening the global role of our leadership in addressing the challenges facing humanity, and providing support and humanitarian assistance throughout the world, in line with the 2030 agenda of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” he added.

Furthermore, Dewa signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Khalifa University, to engage university students in this joint venture and to refine their skills in developing research projects in the field of clean energy and sustainability.

Students will benefit from the scientific research programmes, which will be developed by Dewa and Khalifa University. The two parties will cooperate in organising conferences, workshops, competitions, and related exhibitions, in addition to designing innovative training courses, as well as studying students’ projects and developing them.

Students and faculty members at Khalifa University conducted two field visits to the solar park to study the work of the station and discuss several joint projects proposed by the university, which Dewa intends to examine the feasibility of implementing, and developing a joint implementation plan.

This is the second joint project between Suqia and Dewa. Both parties had previously cooperated in the project of reverse osmosis desalination plant and solar photovoltaic with a capacity of 7.7 cu m per day. – TradeArabia News Service

Drake & Scull wins approval for key restructuring plan

Drake & Scull International (DSI), a regional engineering and services leader, said it has won approval from shareholders on the proposed capital restructuring programme which will see the company pursue a two-pronged strategy with additional capital reduction in the first phase and endorsement of Dh500 million ($136 million) capital increase in the second phase.

The company obtained shareholders’ approval for the restructuring programme at the annual general assembly meeting held recently.

Phase One of the programme, which includes the share capital reduction, is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2017, stated the Dubai builder.
Drake & Scull pointed out that the 75 per cent share capital reduction will enable the company to extinguish its total accumulated losses attributed to the owners of the parent firm amounting to Dh1.71 billion ($462 million).

The reduction is imperative to the continuity of the business and will allow the company to eliminate the financial constraints that hinder the operating performance of the group and impact the ability of the company to secure new work.
Unveiling the new strategy, the top Dubai builder said the completion of Phase One (Capital reduction) of the capital restructuring program will enable the company to successfully execute Phase Two (Dh500 million capital increase); a critical and strategic endeavour that is equally important and essential to resolve the liquidity challenges of the company.

Upon Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority's (SCA) approval, the proposed capital reduction through the cancellation of 1,714 million shares will be on a pro-rata basis and will apply to all DSI shareholders.
The capital hike plan will be implemented once the SCA gives approval to Phase One, said a top official.

"We are confident that the completion of the capital restructuring program will enable us to stabilise the business and help to resolve our financial challenges," remarked CEO Wael Allan.

“We are undertaking several strategic measures to improve our operations, control costs and eliminate inefficiencies affecting our business across all operating segments. We will continue to focus on our core competencies in the UAE market in the MEP sector and we expect to resolve our legacy issues in 2017 to set a solid foundation for recovery and sustainable growth," he added.
Drake & Scull said it expects to complete the capital restructuring program in the first half and is concurrently implementing several strategic measures to improve the operational performance of the group in core markets in the MEP sector.

During the first quarter, the group progressed successfully with its divestment program and disposed of a major non-core asset to generate immediate cash for the business.

The divestment program is set to continue throughout the fiscal year and will further contribute to resolving the liquidity challenges of the group, it added.-TradeArabia News Service

Infrastructure investment helps spur Bahrain economy

The implementation of unprecedented levels of infrastructure investment in Bahrain helped boost the growth of the kingdom's non-oil sector, an Economic Development Board (EDB) report said.

In particular, the GCC Development Fund has seen the volume of active projects double from $1.6 billion in Q1 2016 to $3.2 billion in February 2017, the EDB’s Economic Quarterly report said.

Bahrain's non-oil sector's growth of 3.7 per cent helped to fuel overall economic growth of the kingdom, which expanded by 3 per cent in 2016, according to the report.

The non-oil growth (up from 3.6 per cent in 2015) was driven by a number of sectors, with particularly strong performances in finance (one of the largest non-oil sectors, which grew 5.2 per cent during the year), construction (which grew 5.7 per cent) and social and personal services (which grew 9.1 per cent).
Bahrain has a priority programme of $32 billion of infrastructure projects which are expected to continue to act as counter-cyclical growth drivers. These projects include the $2.5-billion Alba Potline 6, an associated $800-million power station deal, the $1.1-billion airport expansion project and a new $355-million Banagas gas plant.
The impact of this investment underpins the expectation that non-oil growth will remain above 3 per cnet in 2017, despite ongoing regionwide fiscal consolidation, the report added.   - TradeArabia News Service

BA aims to run majority of services today

British Airways has said that it is aiming to run a "near normal schedule" at Gatwick and the "majority of services" from Heathrow today (Sunday) after a "major" IT failure saw all flights cancelled on Saturday.

"Although some of the IT systems have returned, there will be some knock-on disruption to our schedules as aircraft and crews are out of position around the world. We are repositioning some aircraft during the night to enable us to operate as much of our schedule as possible throughout Sunday," the airline said on its website.

"At this stage we are aiming to operate a near normal schedule of flights from Gatwick and the majority of our Heathrow services," it said.

"If you are due to fly to/from Heathrow or Gatwick on Sunday May 28 or Monday May 29 and no longer wish to travel, even if your flight is still operating, you can rebook to travel up to and including June 10," it said.

Thousands of passengers are stranded with their plans disrupted due to the cancellation of flights. The airline said there was no evidence the computer problems were the result of a cyber attack, a BBC report said.

Passengers described "chaotic" scenes at the airports, with some criticising BA for a lack of information.
The airline apologised and said it was refunding and rebooking customers.

BA advised customers to continue checking the status of their flight on its website before travelling to the airport.

"We are extremely sorry for the significant levels of disruption caused to customers and understand how frustrating their experiences have been," the airline said on its website.

Affected customers can claim a full refund or rebook to a future date for travel up until the end of November 2017, it said.

It urged customers to keep any food, transport or accommodation receipts and said they can make a claim in due course through its Customer Relations teams. "There are a significant number of bags at Heathrow which we will be reuniting with customers via couriers as soon as we can. This will be done free of charge," it said.

Muriya awards Oman lifestyle community project deal

Muriya, a key developer of low-density, sustainable towns in Oman, has signed up leading construction group Hussain Fadhil & Partners as the lead contractor for its Golf Lake development within its premium waterfront lifestyle community Jebel Sifah in the sultanate, said a report.

A joint venture between top builders of fully-integrated towns, Orascom Development Holding and Omani master developer Omran, Muriya has roped in international consultants AEB-Assaf as design and supervision consultants for Golf Lake.

Golf Lake, which comprises 14 buildings and 131 studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments as well as lofts, has been expertly designed to overlook Jebel Sifah’s recently opened nine-hole Harradine golf course, reported Oman Observer.

At the heart of Jebel Sifah is the picturesque Marina, home to the four-star 67-room Sifawy Boutique Hotel, the first of five planned 5-star exclusive hotels, featuring a luxury hotel sub-developed by the leading property developer and investor Musstir.

The destination also boasts a range of freehold waterfront apartments and luxury ocean view villas, and an array of lively restaurants, shops and service outlets, all complemented by a host of first-class recreation and entertainment facilities.

Muriya said it has witnessed solid demand for its Golf Lake residential units with almost 90 per cent of them (along with all loft apartments) being sold out within twelve weeks of entering the market.

Located in close proximity to the destination’s extensive range of retail, leisure and hospitality amenities, the project’s freehold properties come in a multitude of sizes, with each unit featuring an open-plan kitchen area, ensuite bathrooms, top quality fixtures and finishing, said the report.

Included as part of the development are a wide variety of athletic and leisure facilities for homeowners to enjoy, such as an oasis style water feature with an integrated infinity pool, a barbeque area, a 700m jogging track, and a dedicated children’s playground.

The residential project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2018, it added.

British Airways cancels London flights over 'IT crash'

British Airways on Saturday cancelled all flights from Heathrow and Gatwick airports because of "a major IT system failure" leading to chaos and confusion at airports across the world, reported BBC

Delays have also been reported in Rome, Prague, Milan, Stockholm and Malaga due to the system failure.

However, authorities were quick to dismiss reports suggesting that it could be an cyber attack.

A "major IT system failure is causing very severe disruption to our flight operations worldwide", the British airline stated.

Passengers have been told not to travel to the London airports because of "extreme congestion" at the terminals, with all BA planes grounded before 6pm on Saturday.

It apologised for the "global system outage" and said it was "working to resolve the problem".

Heathrow Airport said it was "working closely" with BA to solve the issue.

There is no evidence at this stage to suggest the system failure was caused by a cyber attack, the British flag carrier told BBC.

All passengers affected by the failure - which coincides with the first weekend of the half-term holiday for many in the UK - will be offered the option of rescheduling or a refund, it stated.

The airline, which had previously said flights would be cancelled until 18:00 BST, has now cancelled all flights for Saturday and asked passengers not to come to Gatwick or Heathrow airports.

Some passengers have reported having to leave Heathrow without their luggage, reported BBC.

The problems mean parts of BA's website are unavailable and some travellers claimed they could not check in on the mobile app.

BA aircraft landing at Heathrow are unable to park up as outbound aircraft cannot vacate the gates, which has resulted in passengers being stuck on aircraft, said the BBC report.

BA staff in Heathrow's Terminal 5 were resorting to using white boards, it added.
