Kuwait plans $13.2bn road infrastructure projects

Kuwait's government has announced plans to launch 24 new road infrastructure projects - including major highways and bridges - at an investment of KD4 billion ($13.2 billion) over the next few years, said a report.

Currently, work on 25 highways and bridges' projects worth KD2.59 million are under way, reported state news agency Kuna, citing a senior government official.

All the 24 new road projects will be tendered in the coming years, revealed Ahmad Al Hesan, the assistant undersecretary for roads engineering at the Ministry of Public Works.

The road development work in the southern region is moving at a steady pace and the total expenditure on these projects is estimated at KD200 million, he added.
