IHG partners with Samhi to add 2,000 rooms in India

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), one of the world’s largest hotel companies, has partnered with Samhi to re-brand approximately 2,000 rooms (operating and under construction) within their India hotel portfolio to Holiday Inn Express hotels. 

With this signing, IHG has taken a leap in the mid-segment hotel space in India, growing to 41 hotels in the pipeline, across the Holiday Inn brand family, IHG said. 

The partnership has positioned IHG as one of the largest players in the growing mid-segment hotel market in India with a total of 4,654 rooms, across the Holiday Inn brand family, expected to be in operation by the end of 2018. 

The recently signed portfolio comprises 14 hotels across key cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai. The partnership involves the conversion of 10 hotels, 1,456 rooms; three brownfield hotels with 345 rooms and one greenfield hotel, 140 rooms. All hotels in the portfolio will be closed while they are being refurbished and upgraded with the latest Holiday inn Express design directives. The refurbishment will ensure the portfolio matches the Holiday Inn Express brand globally. The hotels will feature the next-generation design, several additional public areas and feature brand hallmarks to enhance guest service delivery.
