UAE approves $54m development projects

The UAE government has given the go-ahead for developmental projects worth nearly Dh200 million ($54.4 million) in the northern emirates, said a report.

The approval by the Follow-up Committee of the Initiatives of the UAE President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan comes in line with the government's efforts to develop the country's infrastructure and ensure a safe environment for the people of determination, reported state news agency Wam.

Under the chairmanship of Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, the committee endorsed the execution of an Dh180-million project linking Sheikh Khalifa Specialty Hospital with the Federal Road Network in order to streamline access to the hospital's services.

Other projects addressing the needs of the people of determination by the Ministry of Community Development have also been endorsed at a total cost of Dh10.6 million, it stated.

These include maintenance works and additions to special needs rehabilitation centres in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Fujairah and Dibba Al Fujairah, according to the report.

The committee also sanctioned an Dh1.5-million project to renovate Wadi Shaam in Ras Al Khaimah, it added.
